Hey Family 💛

Earlier this week, Instagram reminded me of a post I shared back on May 6, 2016—the day I wrote my very first check for Hairbrella. $1,400 for 50 hats.

I remember sitting at my desk at work, quietly writing that check before heading to the mailroom to drop it off. Then I came right back to my desk, trying to act normal—like I hadn’t just sent $1,400 off into the unknown.

I had no e-commerce experience. No real strategy. No team.  Just an idea I couldn’t shake and a growing suspicion that I might actually be losing it 😅

Took a selfie walking into my job with the prototype - I was clearly not sure about this lol!
Those first Hairbrellas cost $28 each to make, not including materials. They weren’t even waterproof.😅

The fit was questionable at best. And when I held a focus group after church that Sunday… let’s just say, the aunties had jokes. 😂

But that check was the first step.

This week—nine years later—I wrote another one.

This time, it was a purchase order for our biggest inventory run ever. Still written in faith. Especially with looming tariffs, retail uncertainty, and all the things that could make a founder hesitate right now. 💯

But if there’s one thing I’ve learned—it’s that the vision only grows when you keep going.

Because of your support, we’ve gone from a rough prototype to patented products and POs to support an eight-figure business. 🙏🏽
From Sunday service focus groups to launching into REI (I’ll share more soon). From “what am I doing?” to “we’re just getting started.”

If you’re in a season of uncertainty, starting over, or holding onto an idea no one else quite gets—I hope this reminds you that one step taken in faith can lead to things you can’t even imagine yet. 💫

And in case you're wondering—yes, we're still holding off on raising prices.🤞🏽 A few of my favorite best-sellers are finally back in stock and I’m so excited to share them with you.

Rain or shine,
