Founder Friday: Does this thing think I wash my hair every day? 🤨

Happy Founder Friday!

I have a confession: I never really understood spa headbands. Maybe I just didn't grow up using them, but once skincare became a much bigger part of my routine (hello, 40s 😅), I finally gave them a try.

And almost immediately, I found myself wondering, "Do these things assume we all wash our hair every day?" Because...I definitely don't.

They were great for keeping wet hair off your face while you cleansed or did your skincare. But if your hair was already dry, styled and exactly the way you wanted it, they actually disrupt it.

One of the main times I thought to grab a spa headband was for my facials. And if you've ever had a fresh silk press and heard the esthetician wheel over that facial steamer, you already know your hair is about to fight for its life. 😩🙅🏽♀️

What I really wanted was something that could cover my hair like a satin scarf, with smooth satin touching my hair and absorbent microfiber on the outside keep the moisture away from my hair. That way, I could actually relax and enjoy my facial instead of mentally calculating how much my press was about to expand.

Then summer wash-and-go season reminded me that I had the exact opposite problem.

When I wear my curls (summer hair), my routine is pretty specific. I gently pat my hair dry, let it air-dry about halfway, then apply my hair milk, mousse and edge gel before letting it finish.

Wrapping it in a towel wasn't ideal because it could flatten my curls, bunch them together or tangle them back up. But walking around with water dripping down my shirt—and leaving a giant wet spot on my shirt—wasn't exactly ideal either.

I realized I didn't really need a towel. I needed something more like a soft, hollow beanie that could hold my curls, absorb the drips and still let them air-dry naturally.

That's when it hit me.
