From Spelman Showers to Fall Forecasts ☔💙

Hey Hairbrella Family,

I’m headed to Homecoming this weekend, and every time I step back on Spelman’s campus, it takes me right back to where it all started.

Back then, I was done with perms, learning to do my own silk presses, and completely unprepared for how Atlanta’s weather would test every bit of my hair journey. 😩

Because let me tell you—no umbrella, no plastic bag, and no plastic bonnet could save me.

If it was raining and I had to walk across campus?
My hair started swelling immediately... and by the time I got where I was going, it was done for. 😩

After a while, I started to think I was cursed, because it rained every single time I got my hair done.

That frustration was real—but now, looking back, I see it for what it was:

Sometimes life’s little annoyances are really the universe nudging you toward something bigger.

I stumbled across this old screenshot of what was available back then. None of those “best selling rain hats” worked for textured hair, protected edges, or survived Atlanta humidity.

So I created what didn’t exist. 💫

And now? Fast forward to today—we’ve got women covered all over the world, from classrooms to commutes, sidelines to stadiums.
